OOLOGAH, Okla. – The Will Rogers & Wiley Post Fly-In returns Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch in Oologah. The annual celebration, now hosted by Cherokee Nation, welcomes pilots from across the region to honor the legacy of the Cherokee Kid Will Rogers and famed aviator Wiley Post.

The grass airstrip will welcome more than 60 vintage aircrafts to the historic site, where guests will enjoy a classic car show, food trucks, vendor booths and more. This year, traditional Cherokee games and cultural demonstrations will also be available.

“This event has a longstanding history at the ranch and has become a staple to the community and travelers alike,” said Donna Tinnin, senior manager of museums and events. “Having the opportunity to help grow the event and enhance the guest experience is incredibly exciting. We hope the public will join us for a fun, family-friendly day full of activities and that they’ll leave knowing more about Cherokee culture and the famous Cherokee Kid.”

The event is open to the public and free to attend in a picnic-style format. Planes are expected to begin landing around 7:30 a.m. and once safely secured, guests are encouraged to meet the pilots and get an up-close look at the aircrafts.

The Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch is located at 9501 E. 380 Road and is open to the public Tuesday - Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on Cherokee Nation cultural sites and events, go to www.VisitCherokeeNation.com.
