ROLAND, Okla. — Deana Carter, celebrated as one of country music’s most authentic and beloved voices, is on the road and making a stop at Lee Creek Tavern inside Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland on Friday, June 20, at 9 p.m.

Known for her sun-kissed charm and trailblazing approach to country, Deana Carter is the daughter of legendary studio guitarist Fred Carter Jr. Carter grew up immersed in the music of icons such as Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel — experiences that would shape her distinctive country-pop sound.
Carter burst onto the music scene with her multiplatinum debut album, “Did I Shave My Legs for This?” captivating audiences with heartfelt lyrics and a retro-rock-infused country style. The album, featuring the chart-topping hit “Strawberry Wine,” earned critical acclaim and multiple No. 1 singles, setting a new standard in 1990s country music and earning its place as a genre classic.
With eight albums to her name, Carter continues to connect deeply with fans through storytelling that touches on love, loss and life’s complexities. Her most recent album, “Southern Way of Life,” was released under her Little Nugget Records label and showcases her evolution as a songwriter, producer and businesswoman. The album reflects her personal journey and resonates with listeners who value honesty and depth in music.
In addition to her recording success, Carter has made her mark as a producer and co-writer, most notably for the Grammy- and CMA-nominated hit “You & Tequila,” recorded by Kenny Chesney. The song also received ACM and NSAI honors, including the coveted Songs I Wish I’d Written award. Her dedication to her craft and the broader music community is evident through her advocacy work, including serving on the Recording Academy’s board and various industry committees.
