FORT GIBSON, Okla. — Cherokee Casino Fort Gibson will welcome the critically acclaimed AC/DC tribute band Back in Black at 9 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at 3 Rivers Tavern inside the casino.
Back in Black delivers a high-energy concert experience that faithfully recreates the sound, look and power of the legendary rock band AC/DC. The band is known for its authentic performances, celebrating both eras of the iconic group and paying tribute to original frontman Bon Scott and longtime vocalist Brian Johnson.
Formed in late 2000 by former Los Angeles bandmates Mike Mroz and Darren Caperna and joined by Steven Wilson on bass, Ramiro Noriega on guitar and Paul Brown on drums, Back in Black quickly gained attention for its musical precision and stage presence. Caperna’s vocal range and command of AC/DC’s signature style led to a major milestone in 2016, when he auditioned for AC/DC during the band’s search for a replacement singer for its world tour.
That experience and the band’s journey were chronicled in the award-winning music documentary “My Stupid Tribute Band,” released in 2023. The film premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and reached No. 1 on Amazon's music chart for four weeks. It is available on Amazon Prime, Roku, Apple TV+, YouTube and Tubi.
Back in Black has been featured on AXS TV’s “World’s Greatest Tribute Bands,” toured nationally with Live Nation and CBS Radio at House of Blues venues, and performed with the Calgary Philharmonic in a symphony concert. The band has also headlined major arenas and festivals, including five consecutive years at Dallas’ “Jacks Throwback,” the world’s largest tribute festival.
In November 2025, four members of Back in Black appeared in Season 2 of Netflix’s global reality competition series “Squid Game: The Challenge.”
The band was recruited by Sony Music, AC/DC’s record label, to promote catalog sales, while 20th Century Fox selected the tribute group to record AC/DC’s classics “TNT” and “A Long Way to the Top” for the films “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Garage Days.” Back in Black has also performed with Cheap Trick, Foghat, Bad Company, Grand Funk Railroad, Living Colour, Ted Nugent, Warrant, Great White, Kansas, Quiet Riot, Badfinger and Vince Neil of Motley Crue.
The show is free and open to the public ages 21 and up.
