Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. and other Cherokee Nation leaders joined the tribe’s Language department to sign an amended Durbin Feeling Language Preservation Act on Thursday, June 25.

The new W.W. Hastings Hospital did not rise from the ground overnight. It grew from decades of planning, staff dedication, and a belief from everyone involved that Cherokee families deserve state-of-the-art care in the heart of the Cherokee Nation Reservation. That belief is now standing six stories tall in Tahlequah.

The Cherokee Nation observed Juneteenth at the Cherokee National Peace Pavilion in Tahlequah, marking the holiday with updates from the Principal Chief's Advisory Committee on Freedmen Art and History and the announcement of a loan agreement with Northeastern State University on an archive map created by students at the Cherokee Freedmen High School in 1903.

The Cherokee Nation honored the 2026 graduating classes of the OMECO/Cherokee Nation Family Medicine and OMECO/OSU Pediatrics (Tribal/Rural Health Track) residency programs during a graduation ceremony held Friday, June 26, at the Chota Conference Center in Tahlequah.
