TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation will soon be taking applications for rental properties located in the Shade Addition in Hulbert and the Sequoyah Heights Addition in Tahlequah.

Both sites are elderly units for ages 62 and older.

Applications for Shade Addition will be available Thursday, Nov. 7, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Proctor Heights office, 900 Bassham Drive, in Hulbert. Applications for Sequoyah Heights Addition will be available Friday, Nov. 8, at 9 a.m. at the Gregg Glass Building, 120 McSpadden Court, in Tahlequah.

To meet application requirements, a household member must be a member of a federally recognized tribe. Household income must be at or below 80 percent of the national median income guidelines and rent amounts will be based on family income. Criminal background checks will be conducted on all household members 18 years of age and older, and other eligibility requirements will apply according to the HACN Rental Programs Policy.

HACN staff will be available to distribute and accept applications for one-bedroom units. The first 20 completed applications for Shade Addition will be accepted. The first 30 completed applications for Sequoyah Heights will be accepted. A completed application must be signed by both head of household and spouse.
