TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Cherokee Nation will host its annual MMIP Awareness event Friday at the Chota Conference Center in Tahlequah. Cherokee Nation, OSBI and Family Advocates of MMIP will speak, followed by activities including red hand painting and designing solidarity pins.
Currently, there are 880 Native Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons cases logged in NamUs, including those of Cherokee Nation citizens.
All citizens and community members are invited to attend the event. A limited amount of MMIP shirts by Cherokee Artist Traci Rabbit will be handed out on a first come, first serve basis.
