TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Cherokee Nation will host a ribbon cutting for families moving into the newly completed ᎦᏃᎯᎵ (Ganohili) Housing Addition in Jay, Oklahoma.

Ten new homes were built for Cherokee families as a part of the Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation’s New Construction Home Ownership Program.

The addition is a part of the Cherokee Nation’s reauthorized Housing, Jobs and Sustainable Communities Act signed into law by Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. and Deputy Chief Bryan Warner. Under the Hoskin-Warner administration’s landmark HJSCA, the tribe commits $40 million in tribal funds to housing and community facility infrastructure every three years into perpetuity, on top of federal housing dollars. HJSCA, first enacted in 2019 and amended in 2024, has fueled the largest housing investment in Cherokee Nation history.
