Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr, Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner, and tribal leaders are gathering at OSU Tulsa to examine the impact of enslavement in the Cherokee Nation during the 19th Century after the tribe’s forced removal. Chief Hoskin will also announce continued investments in North Tulsa and a monument to be erected in Tahlequah.

TULSA, Ok. — Chief Hoskin and Deputy Chief Warner, along with tribal leaders and the community of Tulsa will gather at OSU Tulsa, located in the historic Greenwood District, to examine past tribal practices of enslavement in the 19thcentury and hear of new investments coming.
Chief Hoskin will announce findings from the “Task Force to Examine the Impact of Enslavement on the Cherokee Nation’s 19th Century Economy and Infrastructure,” and announce historic investments from the tribe into North Tulsa. During the celebration, attendees will also be able to hear from a moderated panel of Taskforce Members.
