TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Cherokee Nation is accepting applications for WAVE Technology Training, a mentor-led Salesforce career training program through a partnership with Deloitte for citizens of federally recognized tribes.
This is the second year for the program, which last year saw 385 Cherokee citizen applicants. The success of the program in 2023 inspired the Cherokee Nation and its partners to expand to all federally recognized tribes in 2024.
Applications will be accepted online through the Cherokee Nation Gadugi Portal until June 18.
“Indigenous populations continue to be underrepresented in the field of technology. Boosting representation requires illuminating pathways to learning, credentialing, and career mentorship,” said Cherokee Nation Chief Information Officer Paula Starr. “These are exactly the opportunities that the WAVE program provides to underrepresented communities. We are proud at Cherokee Nation to play a role in bringing this program to tribal citizens.”
The WAVE program is a 14-week virtual training program kicking off July 15. This program is designed to provide hands-on training opportunities to prepare citizens for a career in the Salesforce ecosystem, which is a cloud-based customer relationship management software.
Along with being a citizen of the Cherokee Nation or other federally recognized tribe as of June 4, 2024, applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Participants will be notified of selection via e-mail by the end of the second week of June. This is a competitive opportunity and some applicants may be placed on a waitlist.
