TULSA, Okla. — Known for his signature, whiskey-tinged baritone and honest, no-frills storytelling, acclaimed country artist Ray Scott is set to perform on the Track 5. stage inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 9 p.m.
Ray Scott has spent more than two decades carving his place as one of country music’s most authentic voices. The North Carolina native has built a loyal fan base drawn to his raw lyrical honesty and unvarnished approach to songwriting.
Scott’s latest album, “Billboards and Brake Lights,” dives deep into themes of loss, love and resilience, reflecting some of the most personal moments of his life. Songs such as “Old Roads and Old Friends” and “I’ll See You Again” showcase his gift for transforming life’s most challenging experiences, including the loss of his parents, into poignant, universal music. The latter track, written on the morning of his father’s funeral and featuring vocals from his young nieces, stands as one of the most intimate recordings of his career.
That unflinching honesty has long defined Scott’s musical path. In the early 2000s, when bro-country swept Nashville, he declined the security of a staff songwriter deal on Music Row rather than compromise his authenticity. The move reignited his creative fire, a spark that shines through “Billboards and Brake Lights,” which blends new sounds with his signature grit.
The project features a lineup of Nashville’s finest, including three-time and current CMA Musician of the Year Jenee Fleenor on fiddle and mandolin and Musicians Hall of Fame member Eddie Bayers, a 14-time ACM Drummer of the Year. Under the guidance of producer Jim “Moose” Brown, Scott delivers a sound both rooted in tradition and refreshed for modern audiences.
The live show is free to those 21 and older.
