TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Known for his authentic lyrics, Texas-native Jackson Wendell is heading to Ancient Oaks Tavern inside Cherokee Casino Tahlequah on Saturday, April 26, at 8 p.m.

The show is free and open to the public ages 21 and up.

Born and raised in Lufkin, Texas, Jackson Wendell grew up surrounded by two things: music and the great outdoors. His family loved to travel, which meant that he was homeschooled — a lifestyle that allowed him to discover a deeper connection to music and songwriting. Wendell’s self-taught guitar skills led him to join his church’s worship team, and at just 14, he penned his first single, “Ain’t Coming Home,” which he later released at age 17.

Wendell’s decision to pursue music and higher education at Stephen F. Austin University led him to Banita Creek Hall, a renowned music venue in Nacogdoches, Texas, where he found a home on stage. As a college sophomore, he’s had the incredible opportunity to open for major acts like Randy Rogers, Scotty McCreery and William Beckmann.
