VINITA, Okla. — Join Cherokee Nation for a lesson in Cherokee genealogy research on Feb. 15 at the Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural & Welcome Center in Vinita.
The event is hosted from 2-4 p.m. and is led by an experienced, professional genealogist from the Cherokee National Research Center. It will cover Cherokee-specific genealogy as well as information and resources to research your own family history.
The talk is open to the public and free to attend with no registration required. In addition to learning how to begin genealogical research, participants will also be introduced to the many resources available to assist them in their efforts.
The Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural & Welcome Center offers an exhibit gallery, a grab-and-go café, a gift shop, and flexible space for cultural classes and events. It is open to the public seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 953 E. Illinois Ave.
