TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Cherokee Nation is now accepting applications for the 31st annual Cherokee Homecoming Art Show, presented Aug. 8 – Sept. 12 at the Gallery at Cherokee Springs.

Juried artists compete for more than $18,000 in two divisions: traditional and contemporary. The traditional division is defined as arts customary to Cherokee people before European contact and consists of three categories: basketry, pottery and traditional arts.

The contemporary division is defined as arts arising among the Cherokee after European contact. This division consists of paintings, sculpture, pottery, basketry, beadwork, jewelry, textiles, drawing, photography, graphics and digital art.

Submissions from Cherokee Nation citizens are accepted through July 3 at 11:59 p.m. Cherokee National Treasures are exempt from jury but must complete the online submission to participate.

Winning work will be announced at an awards reception on Aug. 7 at 6 p.m., followed by the public opening on Aug. 8.

The gallery at Cherokee Springs Plaza is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. while the show is running. It is located at 3377 Cherokee Springs Road. Additional information about the show and how to submit artwork is available at HomecomingArtShow.com.
