VINITA, Okla. — Join Cherokee Nation for a day celebrating traditional Cherokee art, music and more at the seventh annual Cherokee Day at Eastern Trails Museum on Sept. 28.
The family-friendly event begins at 10 a.m. with opening remarks by Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr.
“The Eastern Trails Museum is such a beautiful site, and it is home to so many artifacts that help tell the authentic Cherokee story,” said Chief Hoskin. “We look forward to gathering again this year and celebrating our annual ‘Cherokee Day,’ which celebrates our thriving culture. The event always features artisans who continue to preserve and promote the traditions of what it means to be Cherokee.”
Guests will enjoy live music from the Cherokee Adult Choir and interactive cultural demonstrations by several Cherokee National Treasures. The event includes demonstrations in twining, carving, storytelling, basketry and traditional games.
Cherokee Day at Eastern Trails Museum began in 2016 at the suggestion of First Lady January Hoskin, a longtime supporter of the museum and local art and history projects.
