TULSA, Okla. – Cherokee Nation and its businesses recently presented a $60,000 contribution to the Tulsa Area United Way to help support the agency’s yearlong fundraising campaign. Through annual contributions and employee volunteers, the tribe has supported the nonprofit organization’s efforts since 2013.
“Throughout Cherokee Nation and Cherokee Nation Businesses, we are honored to work alongside incredible local nonprofit organizations to ensure Oklahoma remains strong and that all of its citizens can prosper,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. “We are extraordinarily proud of our longtime partnership with the United Way and our shared goal of advancing the quality of life in our communities through education and financial stability, as well as health and safety.”
Tulsa Area United Way aims to improve lives and strengthen local communities by uniting people and resources. The agency, along with thousands of individual donors and companies, raises more than $25 million each year to support innovation grants, collaborative initiatives, shared technology services and human services organizations.

We’re also very grateful that they actively contribute to the entire region and our nonprofit community,” said Alison Anthony, president and CEO of Tulsa Area United Way. “The tribe’s continued support of TAUW ensures that everyone in our community can flourish and thrive.”
In the last 99 years, the United Way has invested more than $900 million in the community. Most recently, TAUW raised more than $25.8 million, meeting its 2023 goal in caring for those in need. The nonprofit agency serves thousands of individuals through more than 160 programs located throughout Tulsa, Creek, Rogers, Okmulgee, Osage and Wagoner counties.
