TULSA, Okla. – Cherokee Nation Strategic Program’s Emily Crum is being recognized this month as the NOAA Team Member of November 2019.

The team truly embodies and shares a mutual passion and dedication for advancing NOAA’s mission,” said John "JC" Coffey, executive director of unmanned systems for Cherokee Nation Businesses. “Emily’s significant contributions and dedication are always evident as we continue to explore the ocean for national benefit.”

Crum serves as the online communications manager for NOAA's Office of Ocean Exploration and Research. Beginning in 2016, Emily oversaw a strategic planning process to determine how best to deploy new technology and revamp the OER website without interrupting operations. This project resulted in a road map for a complete rebuild of the OER website’s, including more than 10,000 pages, using new technology, new navigation tools, and a new design. Emily has also led a campaign to develop new messaging for OER and to create a comprehensive strategic communications plan. Emily’s impressive and sustained leadership as a member of the OER Engagement team ensures that information and key discoveries in ocean exploration are communicated broadly and effectively, advancing the public's knowledge of this critical NOAA mission.
