New hotel slated to open spring 2020 at Cherokee Springs Plaza
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Cherokee Nation and the Tahlequah community joined Promise Hotels to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new Tru by Hilton™ at Cherokee Springs Plaza.
“This hotel will help the growth of tourism for the area and provide needed jobs to the community,” said Pete Patel, CEO of Promise Hotels. “With the backing of Hilton Hotels reward program, the hotel will open up the market and encourage even more travelers to visit the city of Tahlequah. We are excited about the Tru hotel development in Cherokee Springs Plaza.”
The privately owned hotel development and management company, through a ground lease, is building a four-story, 90-room hotel featuring Hilton’s newest brand.
The Tru by Hilton brand features a vibrant and energetic design with a reimagined approach to hospitality. Guests can experience the convenience of technology through digital check-in and room selection, digital keys and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The hotel will feature a mixed-use lobby for guests to work, play, eat and lounge, along with an “Eat. & Sip.” market and multifunctional fitness center.
The Tahlequah location is on the leading edge of the brand’s presence in Oklahoma.
"In just a few short years, Cherokee Springs Plaza has evolved from pasture land to a thriving hub of commerce, quality jobs and economic activity in the heart of Tahlequah,” Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker said. “A new hotel, added retail and restaurants, and the forthcoming conference center mean we have more opportunities for continued growth and success at Cherokee Springs Plaza. Tahlequah, the Cherokee Nation’s capital, is a community on the move."
The Ross Group, a Tulsa-based, Cherokee-owned business, is managing the construction of the new hotel that will be located just west of Seven Clans Avenue behind Taco Bueno at Cherokee Springs Plaza.
