TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Cherokee Nation hosts several events in February, including the 12th annual Cherokee Nation Science & Engineering Fair. See all calendar items below.

Feb. 1

8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Cherokee Nation hosts the 12th annual Cherokee Nation Science & Engineering Fair at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. For more information, call 918-453-5000, ext. 5224.

Feb. 1 – 28

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – The Cherokee Heritage Center in Tahlequah observes the facility’s winter hours for the month of February. Feb. 3

11 a.m. to noon – The Cherokee Heritage Center in Tahlequah hosts a one-hour genealogy class at the center, located at 21192 S. Keeler Drive in Park Hill. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students K-12. For more information, call 888-999-6007 or visit www.cherokeeheritage.org.

9 to 11 a.m. – Sequoyah High School hosts 8th Grade Day at the gym, located at 17091 S. Muskogee Ave. in Tahlequah. Students who are interested in attending Sequoyah can tour, gather information and applications during the free event. For more information, call 918-453-5170.

6 p.m. – The Cherokee Nation hosts a free webinar on Google Hangouts and Skype as part of the Technology Thursday series. Feb. 10

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – The Cherokee Nation hosts a presentation on the fundamentals and techniques of grant proposals, led by Lindi Conover, as part of the Saturday seminar series. The presentation will be hosted at the Tsa La Gi Community Room, located behind the Restaurant of the Cherokees in Tahlequah. Feb. 12

6 p.m. – Cherokee Nation Tribal Council meeting at the W.W. Keeler Complex, 17675 S. Muskogee Ave., Tahlequah. For the agenda, visit http://legislative.cherokee.org.

Feb. 13

5 to 7 p.m. – The Cherokee Nation Veterans Center hosts a sweetheart dance for Cherokee veterans and one adult guest at the center in Tahlequah. The event will include music, dancing and refreshments. RSVP to attend. For more information, call 918-772-4166.

Feb. 15

Noon to 1 p.m. – Cherokee Nations presents a Lunch & Learn History Preservation Series at the Osiyo Training Room, located behind the Cherokee Nation Gift Shop in Tahlequah. Noon to 1 p.m. – The Cherokee Heritage Center in Tahlequah hosts a presentation about the history and genealogy of the Freedmen citizens, led by Ron Graham. The presentation will be hosted at the center, located at 21192 S. Keeler Drive. The cost to attend is $10 for CNHS members and $20 for nonmembers, and lunch is provided.
