ROLAND, Okla. — Love and Theft smashed onto the country music scene in 2009 with chart-topping hits, quickly earning them platinum-level status. On Sept. 16, Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland welcomes back the duo for another standing room only show.

The concert is free to the public and begins at 8 p.m. on the Lee Creek Tavern stage.

The duo Stephen Barker and Eric Gunderson established themselves as one of the country’s hottest young acts with their 2009 Top 10 hit “Runaway,” from their debut album “World Wide Open.”

They continued to work their way into the spotlight in 2012 when their first No. 1 country smash “Angel Eyes” disrupted the Billboard US Country charts. The single, along with “Runnin’ Out of Air” and “If You Ever Get Lonely,” was included on their self-titled album “Love and Theft.” The album was quickly certified platinum by RIAA.

The ACM/CMA/CMT-nominated twosome takes their music to the next level with their latest album, “Whiskey On My Breath.”

The new collection of songs finds the pair stripping their sound down to its essence, with largely acoustic arrangements that focus on their impassioned performances and distinctive vocal chemistry. Liles and Gunderson are co-producing the album with longtime studio collaborator Josh Leo, known for his work with the likes of Alabama, Restless Heart and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

“Whiskey On My Breath” showcases the emotional honesty of such self-penned new tunes as the introspective title track “Everybody Drives Drunk,” along with lighter-hearted new originals such as “Easy” and “Anytime, Anywhere,” which show Love and Theft’s playful sense of humor to be fully intact.

Although the new album is a departure in many respects, “Whiskey On My Breath” won’t come as that much of a surprise to Love and Theft’s longtime fans, who’ll recognize the commitment to the high-energy performances and emotionally forthright lyrics that have been the foundation of Love and Theft’s music from the start.
